Description

Known Word Counter Adds a “Known Words: N” counter to Anki’s main screen (next to the Sync button). It helps you track how many words you already know, based on a list you provide. What it does: Displays a running total of known words on Anki’s main screen. Uses a simple CSV file to keep track of your known words. Optionally adds words from your Anki decks (only from mature cards). Automatically updates as you add more words to your list. How it works: Upload a CSV file with words you know, and the add-on will count them. It can also pull words from specific decks or fields after they’ve been reviewed a few times (mature cards). Words from the CSV and your decks are combined, but duplicates are removed. CSV Format: To get the add-on working, create a CSV file with the following: File Name: known.csv Location: Place it in a folder called Wordslist near the add-on files. CSV file structure: First row must have the following columns: dictForm: The word in its dictionary form (e.g., the base word). secondary: The reading (or other form) of the word. This is optional, but recommended. Example: dictForm, secondary 学ぶ,まなぶ 飲む,のむ Important Notes: The columns must be named exactly as shown (dictForm, secondary). Case-sensitive — be careful with capitalization! Blank rows and duplicate words are ignored. Settings: Go to Tools → Known Word Counter Settings in Anki to: Choose which decks/fields should contribute to the word count. Decide whether to include words from decks alongside your CSV list. Reset and rebuild the word count if needed. Notes: This add-on does not perform detailed word analysis (like splitting sentences). It just counts words you specify in the target field. Simple, fast, and lightweight — designed to help you track your vocabulary as you study. Support
