It is designed for users with complex, hierarchical tags (e.g., Deck::Subdeck::Topic::Subtopic ) and is especially useful for students using large, pre-made decks like AnKing or other AnkiHub decks. Instead of a single, long line of text, this addon creates a new widget in the editor called the "sklounst" field that intelligently displays your tags based on rules you define. Key Features Hierarchical Nicknames: Replaces long, repetitive tag roots like #AK_Step1_v12::#FirstAid::... with a clean, bolded nickname like FA . Smart Truncation: If a tag is too long to fit, it shortens it from the middle , not the end. This ensures you always see the most important parts: the root nickname and the specific sub-tag. Example: **FA**::Biochemistry::...::Metabolism Click to Search: Instantly search for any tag in the Anki Browser just by clicking on it in the list. No more copying and pasting. Custom Order: Tags are displayed in the order you define in the configuration, allowing you to prioritize the most important tag groups. To configure the addon, go to Tools → Add-ons , select "Hide Tags in Editor (sklounst Field)" , and click the Config button. In the configuration window: Click Add to create a new rule. Path: Enter the full tag path you want to shorten (e.g., #AK_Step1_v12::#Pathoma ). Nickname: Enter the short name you want to display (e.g., Thoma ). Use the Up/Down buttons or drag-and-drop to re-order your rules. The display order in the editor will match this list. Click Save to apply your changes.
