Description

Leech Coach helps you catch difficult cards earlier, before they become true leeches. When you press Again / 1 during review, the add-on checks that card’s review history, including how many times you have missed it and its card-specific success rate. If the card appears to be trending toward leech status, Leech Coach shows a short encouraging tooltip reminding you to pause and relearn the concept. This is meant to help you stop brute-forcing painful cards and instead repair the underlying concept or rewrite the card when needed. What it does: Detects when you press Again / 1 during review Checks the card’s review history Counts repeated misses/lapses Shows a short warning when a card is becoming high-risk Uses compact tooltip messages by default Supports optional popup mode through config What it does not do: Does not change scheduling Does not change FSRS settings Does not change intervals Does not change due dates Does not edit cards Does not edit notes Does not change deck options Does not automatically suspend cards How to use: Install the add-on. Restart Anki. Review normally. When you press Again / 1 on a card that is trending toward leech status, Leech Coach will show a short tooltip. When you see the warning, pause for 30–60 seconds and relearn the underlying idea before continuing. Configuration: You can adjust the settings from the add-on configuration file. Options include: bad_success_rate min_reviews early_lapse_warning high_risk_lapses true_leech_lapses enable_tooltip_instead_of_popup Tooltip mode is enabled by default because it is less disruptive during review. If you prefer a popup that requires clicking OK, set: "enable_tooltip_instead_of_popup": false Why I made this: I made this as a medical student to help myself catch painful Anki cards earlier. The goal is to turn repeated misses into a signal to relearn the concept instead of just grinding the same card over and over. Compatibility: Tested locally on my current version of Anki Desktop. Add-ons can sometimes break after Anki updates, so please report issues if it behaves unexpectedly. Support: If something breaks, please leave a comment with: Your Anki version Your operating system What happened Whether you were using tooltip mode or popup mode
