It is useful when you want to: Organize courses, books, and topic-based knowledge structures in Anki. See the current deck outline on the left while reviewing. Arrange cards into parent, child, and deeper hierarchy levels. Export a FreeMind .mm file and import it into Xmind. Features Standalone mind map window; it does not show the bidirectional-link relationship graph. Four graph layouts: clear tree, balanced knowledge map, organization chart, and radial map. Deck filter in the graph window; deck dropdown follows Anki's default deck order. Hierarchy only option: show only cards that have a parent or children, hiding isolated root-level cards. Review sidebar: shows 30 cards by default, with 30 / 50 / 100 / all display options. Click a title to show a compact preview; action buttons do not trigger preview. Menu Entries After installation, open: Tools -> Anki Mind Map Main entries: Open Mind Map Graph : open the standalone mind map window. Show/Hide Mind Map Sidebar : show the outline on the left side of the review screen. Rebuild Mind Map Card Index : use this when deck, title, or graph data is outdated. Basic Usage Start reviewing a deck. Enable the mind map sidebar. The left sidebar shows the current deck outline and tracks the current card. Enter edit mode to move, indent, outdent, hide, or drag cards. Open the mind map graph and filter it by deck. Enable Hierarchy only to focus on cards that already belong to a parent-child structure. Export .mm when you want to use the outline in Xmind. Hierarchy and Ordering Rules Normal refresh only adds missing cards and updates titles/decks. It does not overwrite your manual hierarchy or order. Move, indent, outdent, and drag operations only write to the add-on's own outline database. They do not modify Anki decks, queues, fields, or tags. Reset order rebuilds the outline based on the current deck order and will clear manual hierarchy/order changes. Pin order marks the current outline as local manual order, so later refreshes will not overwrite it with deck order. Relationship With the Bidirectional Links Add-on This add-on only handles the mind map graph and review sidebar. It does not show the bidirectional-link relationship graph. If you need [[wikilink]] , backlinks, relationship graph, or Obsidian Markdown export, install the separate Anki Bidirectional Links add-on. The two add-ons can be installed together, but neither depends on the other. Data and Privacy The add-on only reads your local Anki card titles, deck names, and required outline data. It does not upload card content to any server. Outline data is stored locally in mindmap_outline.sqlite . The sync mirror uses a suspended Anki data card and follows Anki's own sync mechanism. .mm export only writes to a local file selected by you. Compatibility Anki 23.10 or newer is recommended. Windows is the primary tested environment. If the menu does not appear after installation, fully quit and restart Anki. FAQ Q: The left sidebar does not appear. What should I do? Fully quit and restart Anki, then confirm the log contains [Anki思维导图] v1.0.8 loaded . After that, click Show/Hide Mind Map Sidebar again. Q: Selecting a deck in the graph window does not change anything. What should I do? Click Rebuild Mind Map Card Index , wait for it to finish, restart Anki, and reopen the graph.
