Description

Flock Webcam is a webcam eye and head tracker that keeps you honest during reviews: look away from Anki for more than 5 seconds and it beeps until you look back. It tracks your eyes and head on your own computer to notice when you've turned away, left your desk, closed your eyes, or switched to another app. Everything runs inside Anki, and there's nothing else to install. Video is analyzed in memory and is never saved or sent anywhere. The camera is only on while you're on the review screen. How to use Install the add-on and restart Anki. Start reviewing. The first time, your computer will ask to let Anki use the camera; click Allow. For the first 2 seconds of each session it learns what "looking at the card" looks like for you, so keep your eyes on the card. A small dot in the bottom-left corner shows its status: green means focused, orange means away, red means beeping or a problem. Click the dot for a camera preview, live eye and head readings, and a Recalibrate button. Settings (Tools > Add-ons > Flock Webcam > Config) How many seconds you can look away before it beeps (default 5), and how often it repeats How far you can turn your head before it counts as looking away Eye sensitivity: how closed your eyes can be before it counts as dozing, and an optional setting to catch eyes-only glances down at your phone Whether switching to another app counts Beep volume and which camera to use Tools > Flock Webcam turns it on or off. Requirements A webcam. Mac: Anki 26.05 or newer. Versions 25.07–25.09 can't give add-ons camera access, and their built-in updater can't install 26.05, so download the latest version from apps.ankiweb.net. Your decks and add-ons carry over. Windows: under Settings > Privacy & security > Camera, "Let desktop apps access your camera" must be on. If Anki's video driver is set to Software (in Preferences), switch it to another option. Good for: staying focused, avoiding phone distractions, and catching yourself zoning out during long review sessions. Face and eye tracking use Google's MediaPipe Face Landmarker (Apache 2.0).
