Description

Card & Image Preloader Prepare card content, styling, and images ahead of time for smoother reviewing, especially with image-heavy cards. Full credit for the original add-on, its concept, and its preloading functionality belongs to the creator of Faster Reviewer . This is an unofficial modified version of that add-on, focused on fixing review-page layout, custom background compatibility, and interactive fields. What it does The add-on prepares upcoming card content and images before they are needed. This can reduce delays when moving between cards or revealing answers, particularly on cards containing large images and complex layouts. Simple text cards may benefit less. Offscreen content caching and image preloading remain active. Cards with scripts or interactive controls use Anki's normal rendering so their controls initialize on the displayed card. Static cards can still use the pre-rendered transition. What this update fixes Clipped review pages: Long answers can expand and scroll normally, keeping content farther down the page accessible. Answers limited to the question's height: The answer area can grow as images load and additional fields open. Custom backgrounds covered by a solid rectangle: Removes the opaque background applied to preloaded card layers so the existing background can remain visible. Unresponsive field buttons: Interactive fields such as Lecture Notes and First Aid use Anki's normal rendering to preserve their buttons and keyboard shortcuts. Missing or outdated fields after a refresh: Prevents an older cached answer from replacing Anki's current content and hiding updated fields or buttons. Interference from hidden upcoming cards: Isolates their styles and field identifiers from the card currently being reviewed. Layout and field-order conflicts: Preserves existing card styling, fixed controls, and the template's display order, including placing Extra above Lecture Notes. The package requires Anki Desktop 25.09 or later, following the original add-on's minimum version requirement. It does not modify your saved notes, card templates, or scheduling data. Performance has not been benchmarked. Results and compatibility may vary with card templates, other add-ons, and your computer. Using native rendering for interactive cards prioritizes correct field behavior while retaining offscreen preloading.
