Anki CollectQuest (fork)
A personal fork of CollectQuest by Florent Baris — an Anki gamification add-on incentivizing consistent SRS through collecting various items, completing quests and leveling up along the way.
Changes in this fork
Refer to the changelog. Changes in this fork begin with version 2.0.0.
Migrating progress from the original add-on
- Back up your progress first. This is the
collectquest.jsonfile inAnki2/<profile>/directory. Without a copy there is no way back to your pre-fork progress. - Disable the original add-on.
You can keep your existing progress. Your level, XP, gold, gems, collectibles and prestige all carry over, and daily quests are quietly swapped. There is no need to start from scratch. The one exception is a save from a very old version of the original add-on, which this fork can no longer read; it gets renamed out of the way and you begin fresh, rather than it being overwritten.
Going back to the original later works, but the quests it finds will be ones it doesn't recognize, so they sit unchanged until the next day rolls them over.
Installing
There are two ways to install this add-on:
- Via AnkiWeb as every other add-on. This way the version will automatically stay up to date.
- Download the
.ankiaddonfile from releases and either open it as an Anki program directly, or in Anki window navigate to Tools → Add-ons → Install from file....
Player guide
The game is designed to be minimalistic and self-explanatory, and it tries not to distract the Anki user who just wants to be motivated to do their reviews consistently. While it is simple on the surface, various underlying mechanics of the game can get quite complicated. If you're curious, hopefully everything you'd want to know is written out in the player guide on the wiki.
