Description

Anki Companion is a local Anki Desktop add-on that adds a pixel-art virtual study pet to your Anki home screen. It is designed to reward consistent studying over time, not short bursts of grinding. Your companion grows by observing your real Anki review history. Daily review activity contributes to long-term maturity, while XP, energy, momentum, happiness, friendship, and coins update as you study. The pet appears in a compact bottom dock on the Anki deck screen, with a fuller dashboard available from the Tools menu. The central mechanic is simple: study Anki consistently, care for your companion, and watch it evolve across weeks, months, and years. Maturity is capped per day, so doing thousands of reviews in one day cannot instantly evolve the pet. A user who studies steadily over many days will progress biologically more than someone who crams the same number of reviews into a few days. Features include: Pixel-art pet room and animated companion Bottom home-screen companion dock Full dashboard with stats and history Daily review goal tracking XP and level progression Long-term maturity system Evolution stages Momentum, happiness, energy, and friendship stats Pet interactions: Pet, Feed, Play, Rest Customizable daily goal and active-day threshold Customizable pet and room colors Review history reconstruction from Anki’s revlog Local save file with persistent pet state Exportable save data No analytics, no telemetry, no accounts, no network requests Anki Companion does not change Anki scheduling. It does not modify FSRS settings, card intervals, ease, due dates, decks, notes, cards, or review history. It only observes completed review activity and turns that activity into a local companion game. If you miss a day, your pet does not die. Your streak may reset, and momentum or happiness may drop, but maturity, XP, level, friendship, evolution stage, and history remain. Supported Anki version: 26.05 for now MIT License Privacy: no network requests, no analytics, local only Note that it does not change scheduling/cards/decks/notes
