Description

Check out my YouTube channel for more cool stuff and new updates on the add-on! https://youtu.be/rW8lAeek92o?si=DEIQYU4yrnKFB__m You can also watch my video about the add-on here. https://youtu.be/rW8lAeek92o?si=eqYuGd39EgQWG4kK The update is here — Version 4.1! Turn your Anki cards into interactive multiple-choice quizzes. Add up to five answers, select your choices, and reveal your results with clear, colour-coded feedback. This update adds explanations, better image support, a settings window, and improvements for cards created with older versions. Key Features Up to five answer options: only the options you fill in appear. Optional answer shuffling: keep reviews challenging without memorizing answer positions. Interactive selection: click or tap to select an answer; click or tap again to deselect it. Selected-only reveal: after revealing, only your chosen answers appear—green for correct selections and red for incorrect ones. Optional explanations: add text and images that appear after revealing. Images in questions and answers: combine pictures with text. On desktop, use Anki’s editor controls to resize images and wrap text around them. Customizable feedback: change messages such as “That’s right!” and “Not quite,” or turn feedback off. Adjustable spacing: customize the question-to-answer spacing, with an 80 px default. Optional transparent explanation background: keep the answer-option colours while clearing the explanation box’s grey background. Settings Open Tools → Simple MCQ Settings…, or select the add-on under Tools → Add-ons → Config. You can control shuffling, images, explanations, feedback messages, explanation transparency, and question-to-answer spacing. The Messages tab lets you personalize the feedback text. Fields Question: your question, including optional images. Option1–Option5: your answer choices. Leave unused options empty. AnswerKey: one binary digit per option—1 means correct and 0 means incorrect. For example, 0100 marks only Option2 as correct; 10101 marks Option1, Option3, and Option5. Explanation: optional content displayed after revealing. Installation and Updates In Anki desktop, open Tools → Add-ons → Get Add-ons… and enter: 742367042 For manual installation, download the .ankiaddon file and choose Tools → Add-ons → Install from file…. Restart Anki after installing or updating. Back up your collection before upgrading. The update migrates supported older MCQ note types in place. Upgrade tests covered the original four-option version, V3, and V4, preserving existing field contents, note/card IDs, scheduling, and review history. Usage Add a note using the Simple MCQ note type. Fill in your question, answer options, and binary AnswerKey. Add an explanation if you want one. During review, select your answers and press Show Answer. Only your selected options appear on the answer side. Unselected answers—including correct answers you missed—stay hidden. When feedback is enabled, the summary can tell you that you missed a correct answer. Compatibility Tested on Anki desktop 25.02.4. For phone reviews, install or update the add-on on desktop, open your collection there, and sync the updated cards and note types to your phone. The Python add-on itself runs on desktop.
