Description

By default, Anki uses a single Edit window. If you press E to edit a card, then move to the next card and press E again, the previous edit window is reused and switches to the new card, so you lose what you were looking at. 😀 πŸš€ What this add-on does Every press of E (or click on the Edit button) spawns a fresh Edit window. Previous edits stay open with their original card, so you can: πŸ‘€ Compare two cards side by side while editing πŸ“Œ Keep one card open as a reference while editing another ⚑ Batch-edit several cards without constantly reopening them 🎯 Usage Install, restart Anki. That's it, no config, no menu, no UI change. Just press E as you normally would. πŸŽ‰ πŸ”§ How it works The add-on intercepts aqt.dialogs.open("EditCurrent", ...) and bypasses the singleton dialog manager for this one dialog. All other dialogs behave exactly as before. Open windows are tracked internally to prevent Qt from garbage-collecting them, and references are released when each window is closed. 🧹 βœ… Compatibility 🟒 Anki 2.1.50 and newer (Qt5 and Qt6) 🀝 No conflicts expected with other add-ons (the patch is scoped to the EditCurrent dialog name only and chains through to the original dialogs.open for everything else)
