Pin Default Note Type Always start adding cards with the note type YOU chose. Anki uses its own rules to decide which note type appears when you open the Add window — and sometimes it picks the wrong one. The result is familiar: you build a whole batch of cards and only then notice the note type was wrong the entire time. This add-on fixes that. Pick the note type you normally use, and it will be selected automatically every single time you open the Add window. ◆ What it does • Lets you pin one default note type per profile. • Applies it automatically every time the Add window opens. • Overrides Anki's built-in guesswork — your choice always wins. • If you switch the type manually, it resets to your pinned default the next time the Add window opens. • Saved per profile, so each profile can have its own default. ◆ How to use Open Tools → Add-ons, select "Pin Default Note Type", and click Config. Choose your preferred note type and click OK. That's it. From now on the Add window always starts with your type. To restore Anki's automatic behavior, open Config again and choose "(none — use Anki's default behavior)". ◆ Compatibility Requires Anki 2.1.65 or newer (Qt6). ◆ Notes If the pinned note type is later renamed or deleted, the add-on lets you know and falls back to Anki's default until you set a new one.
