Description

Mad Hatter's Practice Questions Turn Anki into an interactive multiple-choice quiz tool. Build practice questions with a clean editor, review them as animated MCQs with sound and confetti, and schedule them on your own custom intervals β€” separate from your normal cards. A bulk uploader (with a ready-made AI prompt) lets you create many questions at once. Making a practice question On the Add screen, pick the "Mad Hatter Practice Question" note type, then click the green PQs button in the editor toolbar. Fill in the Question, the Answers (A, B, C, D … β€” add or remove with + / Γ—, and click "correct" to mark the right answer), and the Explanation (shown after the learner answers). Drag, drop, or paste images (EKGs, x-rays, diagrams, etc.) straight into the Question or Explanation box, at the exact spot you want them. Press Done, then add the card with Anki's normal Add button. Reviewing The answer options are shown as buttons and reshuffled every time, so you learn the concept instead of memorizing "the answer is A." Tap an answer for instant feedback: the correct option turns green with a "Correct" badge, a cheer, and confetti; a wrong pick turns red with an "Incorrect" badge and reveals the correct answer. After answering, choose when the card should come back using your own interval buttons. Custom intervals and settings (Deck Options) Open any deck's Options β€” a "Practice Questions" section appears below Lapses. Set the interval buttons shown after each question (minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, years, or Suspend). Add, remove, and reorder them freely. These apply to all practice-question cards. Toggle answer shuffling, sound effects, and confetti in the same place. Bulk upload In that section, click "Upload in bulk" to paste many questions at once, into an existing or new deck. Mark up each question: $q$…$q$ question, $a$…$a$ answer list, $1$…$1$ / $2$…$2$ options, $c$ around the correct option, $e$…$e$ explanation. The next $q$…$q$ starts the next question. A "?" button explains the format, and pasted images are kept in place. Want AI to do the formatting? Click "AI instructions & prompt" for a copy-and-paste prompt that works in any chatbot to convert screenshots or pasted questions into this format, marking where images should be dropped in. Sharing decks Decks you make also work for people who don't have this add-on: the quiz still plays; it just uses Anki's normal answer buttons for scheduling instead of the custom interval buttons. Notes The custom interval buttons and settings run on Anki desktop. On AnkiMobile/AnkiDroid the quiz works, but scheduling falls back to Anki's normal buttons. Custom intervals set a card's due date directly, so these cards keep their own schedule and don't follow FSRS like your normal cards β€” this is intended. Built for Anki 25.x (Qt6).
