Description

An Anki add-on to batch download pictures from Google Images. If you're in China and the add-on doesn't work for you with the error message, "Connection to www.google.com timed out", try Baidu Images - https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/1024335436 ---------------------------------------- πŸ‘·β€β™‚οΈ My Freelance Anki Services (English, French, Spanish, German, Italian) The Notion page includes a few examples of Anki flashcards that I happened to make in the past -- for free, for a cup of coffee in return or upon request and on commission. For more information, please see https://kelciour.notion.site/Home-53d745ea252082848ca881b35c336e79 Alternatively, I can probably convert something to Anki, if it can be batch processed or automated and doesn't take too much time. ---------------------------------------- Screenshots How to Use Open the card browser - select a few cards - menu Edit - Add Google Images. Select "Source Field". Select "Target Field" instead of "<ignored>". Select how many pictures to download. (optional) Set the maximum width or height. (optional) Click "Start". If the source field contains cloze deletions, only clozes will be used to search for pictures. By default, multiple pictures will be separated by a space character (" "). It can be changed to a newline character ("<br>") by editing the "Delimiter" option in the config window (Tools - Add-ons - ... - Config). Changelog 2026-03-16 Use Qt WebEngine (Chromium) to work around "Google Now Requires JavaScript for Search Results". 2026-03-18 Revert the last changes and switch to a different user-agent 2026-03-22 Bring back Qt WebEngine 2026-03-24 Use requests by default 2026-03-24 Refresh the editor Known Issues If Qt WebEngine is enabled, it's recommended to restart Anki after using the add-on to process a large number of notes at once, e.g. processing about 500 notes will result in Anki taking up about 5 GB in memory (due to a memory leak). Known Alternatives Quick Images Downloader by Shige࢞ should still work fine as it relies on the official API, but the "Search the entire web" option was recently deprecated by Google. -- N. <kelciour@gmail.com>
