Description

Maintenance: Note Type structure dump is a tool for creating indented, structural export of Note Type definitions. Purpose and usage This addon can help you keep your Note Types under control even in non-trivial collections. That task can be a challenge even if you're only adding new Note Types yourself for your own use, but is especially hard if you import some shared decks which come with their own Note Types. If you have an extensive Note Type library or are a shared deck maintainer you may use the addon to ensure your models are used as they should to. But even if you've just wondered what are Note Types like "Basic-4bef4" now you have the tool to check! These probably appeared during external deck import, when Note Types in imported deck collided with your local definitions - now you can check what's the difference! Addon creates per-Note Type text files, describing in indented, formatted fashion (see screenshots below): - simple attributes (name, id etc.) - field definitions - card templates (with common CSS) By having the definitions in per-Note Type text files you can easily: compare structures of Note Types using standard comparison tools (like WinMerge in Windows or Meld in Linux) keep track of changes by storing exported definitions in version control system (like git ) Unfortunately (at least for one reviewer - thanks for your enthusiastic comment!), I have no plans for implementing a full two-way sync in foreseeable future. That would be much, much more complex as it would require not only parsing and validating proposed new structure but also calling some internal post-processing (e.g. like adding cards after template modification) and being extra-careful not to break anything in user's carefully maintained decks... I hope visualizing and documenting changes made manually (or by imports) solves 50% of the problem with 5% implementation cost... Support Addon was tested the addon on Windows (7) and Linux (Ubuntu 17.04 64bit) but it should work on other platforms too. Addon source will be made available github soon.
