Description

Batch Image Front is an Anki add-on for quickly converting a large collection of images into individual Anki cards. Instead of manually creating notes and adding images one by one, you can select a folder and import all supported images automatically. Each image becomes a separate card with the image displayed on the front. Features Import all images from a selected folder with a single action. Optionally search through subfolders recursively. Automatically creates one Anki note/card for each image. Front side contains the image only. Back side displays the same image using {{FrontSide}}. Automatically creates a dedicated Image Only note type. Automatically copies imported images to Anki's media collection. Supports JPG, JPEG, PNG, GIF, WEBP, BMP, and AVIF images. Detects duplicate images using SHA-256 hashing. Previously imported images are automatically skipped. Choose the target Anki deck before importing. Includes an import progress indicator and cancellation support. How It Works Open Batch Image Front from Anki's Tools menu. Select the folder containing your images. Choose the destination deck. Choose whether to include images from subfolders. Click Import Images. The add-on automatically creates the corresponding Anki notes and copies the images into the collection's media folder. Each imported image becomes an individual card Example Use Cases Batch Image Front is particularly useful for creating image-based flashcards, visual vocabulary cards, anatomy or medical image cards, diagrams, maps, screenshots, recognition exercises, and other visual learning materials. It is also useful when you already have hundreds or thousands of images and want to turn them into Anki cards without manually creating each note. Duplicate Detection The add-on calculates a SHA-256 hash for every imported image. If an identical image has already been imported by Batch Image Front, it is automatically skipped. This allows you to safely run the import process again without creating duplicate cards. Compatibility Designed for Anki Desktop 26.x. Installation Close Anki. Open Anki's Tools β†’ Add-ons β†’ View Files. Copy the batch_image_front folder into the addons21 directory. Restart Anki. Open Tools β†’ Batch Image Front. If you have an older or broken version installed, replace the entire existing batch_image_front folder with the folder from this package. Notes This add-on is designed specifically for Anki Desktop. It does not require an external application or online service.
