FareGate Bridge connects desktop Anki to the FareGate iPhone app. FareGate keeps the distracting apps you select shielded on your iPhone until you clear your due-card fare. This add-on syncs your collection, media, and review progress to your private FareGate sync space so the iPhone app can serve your cards and update your gate. What you need The FareGate app on your iPhone. The free tier includes bridge sync; optional Pro upgrades are shown in the iPhone app. Desktop Anki 25.12 or later. The packaged manifest requires min_point_version 251200 and sets no upper cap. Important: this desktop add-on alone does not shield apps or grant time. App shielding happens entirely on your iPhone via the FareGate app. Install and pair Install FareGate Bridge in desktop Anki and restart Anki. On your iPhone, open FareGate and go to Settings, then choose Link your desktop Anki . FareGate shows a one-time pairing code. It expires in five minutes. In desktop Anki, choose Tools > FareGate: Pair with phone… . Type the iPhone pairing code into the add-on and finish linking. The first transfer of a large collection can take several minutes — Tools › FareGate: Status… shows its progress, Anki stays usable while it runs, and Sync now sends the latest cards whenever you like. There is no QR-code step. Privacy and deck ownership Your card content stays on your machine except in your own private sync space. It is never pooled across riders, redistributed, or used to train models. FareGate sells behavior change, not decks. When reviews need to be written back, the bridge uses Anki's scheduler APIs rather than writing directly to Anki's database. Open source FareGate Bridge is free software licensed under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0. The add-on package includes its full source code and license text.
